What is Disco, TX?

Hi, Blake Ward here. I founded Disco, TX for a multitude of reasons. Some of them were noble, others were selfish. What is Disco, TX though? In abstract, it is an imaginary place that floats in and out of existence. It is a club, it is an idea, it is temporary, and it is you and me.

Disco, TX started when Beauty Bar was overrun with handsy Frat dudes. Dudes at dance parties that don’t know how to act are like cockroaches. Wherever attractive women are, they show up and clear the floor. I needed a way to keep the roaches out. What do frat guys hate? Creativity, liberal ideas, sexual fluidity, and good music. Thus, here we are. Disco, TX is your organic raid bomb to keep frat guys away.

It is also so much more than that I think. Each party is lovingly crafted with help from my friends, and inspired by something that makes us excited. Whether it is roller skating, which was harder to pull off than you can imagine, or New Wave Cowboys, each theme comes from some sort of inspiration. Sometimes it starts with a place, or a movie, or a genre of music. We have one coming up that is a historical reference that I couldn’t be more excited about. Since Covid, these special nights are even more important to me. My favorite clubs are all gone, my favorite magic dance floors are not coming back, but you can’t kill a place that only exists as an idea.
